Advisory Board
Purpose, Scope of Work and Benefit
The Advisory Board is created as a standing board for the purpose of working with the Kurdish American Medical Association (KAMA) Board of Directors (henceforth BoD). The Advisory Board shall limit its activities to advising on matters that directly concern KAMA programs and fundraising efforts. The Advisory Board shall have no legal responsibilities and is formed to give advice and recommendations to the BoD and management. It cannot compel the BoD or staff to act on its recommendations or feedback.

Benefit as an Advisory Member: The Advisory member can be a tremendous influence and complement the effectiveness of the BoD as it works to carry out specific and complex roles. Other benefits include:
Exclusions
Decision Making: Advisory Board members shall have no power to enforce decisions about the association. The Advisory Board provides recommendations that are collectively discussed with the BoD.
Spokesperson Advisory Board members shall not speak or communicate on behalf of the organization unless discussed with the BoD.
Composition:
The Advisory Board shall consist of least five members. Members will be selected and appointed by the Board after discussion with the BoD. Advisory Board members must be medical professionals.
Organizational Structure
The Advisory Board shall appoint a chair who also serves as a representative to the BoD.
Procedural Rules
Meetings: The Advisory Board will meet at least twice a year. Written notices of upcoming meetings will be emailed to members at least seven days before a meeting thatcan be held virtually or in person.
Minutes: Minutes of each meeting will be documented. An electronic copy will be emailed to the BoD and management within two weeks after a meeting.
Recommendations and Reports: Board recommendations and reports will be submitted in writing to the BoD. Documents will include both suggested actions and justification for suggestions. The board of directors will respond to such recommendations and reports in writing.
Dismissal: Members who are absent without reasonable cause from three successive meetings will be considered to have resigned their seat. The Advisory Board in collaboration with the BoD will move to fill the position.

- Provide BoD and management with objective opinions about the organization
- Provide input, skills, and knowledge towards specific projects

- Identify fundraising opportunities, technical assistance, and marketing resources
- Assess the impact of programs, projects, and events
- Participate in BoD meetings on an ad hoc and short-term basis for the purpose of planning events such as annual meetings.
- Serve as an non-political advocates for KAMA
